There is a very short reference to the word >Pondo< in Adam's Smith
classic book, The Wealth of Nations. According to Smith, Pondo was
the name given to a metal coin used for transactions during the Roman
Empire. To the extent that it served as a store of value, we have
used WebPondo as a way of representing the, hopefully, 'Value' on
cyberspace, this web site is adding to those interested in Economics
and Colombia.
A nice website and some information on the origins of coins in "La
Nueva Granada" can be found at the Coleccion
Numismática del Banco de la República. |
